In ResMed SaaS we believe the mission of the Platform Team is to accelerate software delivery by providing a core foundation of shared services, tooling, self-service APIs, and knowledge packed as products. Hundreds of engineers will love and leverage these products as they execute our vision of powering the re-imagination of healthcare.


We are searching for a strong Software Engineering Manager to lead the Delivery Enablement Team, building and maintaining some of these foundational capabilities. Our team creates inner-sourced self-service capabilities and services that product teams can leverage to eliminate the pain points, complexity, and friction in their delivery streams and environments. We strive to make developers happier and more productive.

If you have a very hands-on approach to leading and mentoring engineers and are ready to impact the lives of millions of patients across the country, this role is for you.


You will need to think and act as a product owner in delivering software and operating these services in production, owning the end-to-end user and developer experience, and being the number one advocate for the solutions you create.


A successful candidate will be creative and highly analytical, good at translating strategy into actionable work, comfortable taking measured risks, and strongly biased toward action.


Let’s Talk About Responsibilities


  • Lead and develop a team of engineers through mentoring, coaching, and management support. Provide your team with context and continuous feedback.
  • End-to-end ownership (development through operations) of platform core services, including commitments and timelines, deliverables, availability, scalability, success metrics, and overall quality.
  • Participate in, or lead, key activities that promote a healthy engineering culture: design sessions and code reviews, incident reviews, team retrospectives, etc.
  • Understand customers’ pain points and how the roadmap will solve them, and have a strong sense of urgency to deliver.
  • Promote behaviors that foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning. Be an example of such behaviors.
  • Be a Platform Evangelist and partner closely with business stakeholders and engineering leaders to promote the growth and adoption of core services.
  • Attract and maintain a high caliber of engineers. Continuously raise the bar in all aspects of your team: hiring, product quality, talent quality, etc.
  • Communicate your decisions frequently and clearly in all directions: your team, stakeholders, peers, etc.
  • Be curious and detail-oriented. Understand the limitations of your products, have a point of view, and own the forward-looking technical strategy.

Let’s Talk About Qualifications And Experience

Required:

  • You are a seasoned technologist, with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 8+ years of experience building systems.
  • You have 3+ years of experience leading, coaching, and mentoring software engineering teams.
  • You have 3+ years of experience building cloud-native applications in any primary public cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or GPC.
  • You have experience in application development (object-oriented programming), provisioning infrastructure as code, and have knowledge of computer networking.
  • You have experience setting up and running CI/CD pipelines in a continuous delivery environment and are familiar with deployment strategies and zero-downtime deployments.
  • You have a knack for eliminating repetitive or tactical activities that have limited enduring value. You hate toil, and embrace automation.
  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience building platform capabilities as products is a big differentiator for this role, including areas like developer experience, foundational cloud-native paved roads, and reusable business services.
  • Extensive experience in AWS and its services is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
