Operations Lead and Cloud Engineer
Key Role:
Manage and oversee technical operations and maintenance activities and support staff to include system, database, and network administrators, cyber analysts, and help desk support agents in a remote-based Operations Center. Maintain responsibility for the infrastructure, systems, and applications to include design, implementation, sustainability, and deployment of system enhancements and upgrades. Work closely with client leadership to report progress. Troubleshoot issues and plan and design for future system enhancements into the infrastructure. Ensure that system performance metrics are being met and provide regular status and operational updates to all stakeholders. Interface with engineering and development teams to determine software requirements and manage upgrade and release schedules in a DevSecOps pipeline. Support the planning, strategic vision, and engineering of the AWS cloud-based infrastructure. Support the research and modernization of new cloud-based technologies, and implementation and design of software, tools, and containers. Integrate front-end systems, back-end systems, Cloud-based delivery, and networks on multiple environments and enclaves. Be familiar with standard Agile engineering concepts, practices, and procedures as we all networking and cybersecurity requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting multiple operating systems, including UNIX, Linux, and Windows Server
- 3+ years of experience designing, building, deploying, managing, and securing software architectures in Cloud computing environments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure in the DoD or Federal market
- Experience with virtualization and containerization, including VMware, Virtual Box, and Docker
- Experience with the full software or systems development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, integration, testing, and implementation
- Knowledge of Federal IT and Cloud security policies, including FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and DoD Cloud SRG, and applying them to the design and implementation of Cloud solutions to achieve an Authorization to Operate (ATO)
- Ability to reason the pros and cons of various Cloud tools and environments based on client environments
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in CS or Engineering
- Security+ Certification
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with automation software, including Ansible, Puppet, Chef, CloudFormation, and cfengine
- Experience working in defense or intelligence community (IC) Cloud environments, including AWS GovCloud and MilCloud
- Possession of strong scripting skills, including PowerShell scripts and Python
- Master’s degree in CS, Engineering, or a related field
- AWS and Microsoft Cloud Certified Associate or Professional Certification
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $106,200.00 to $242,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
