We are actively seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our IAAS (Infrastructure as a Service) - Persistence team. At Five9, we work in small teams and move fast to drive our products and business to the next level. We look for crucial skills in team members such as a problem-solving mindset and intellectual curiosity, along with comfortable integration into a deeply collaborative system that rewards impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implementation, and automation of large-scale distributed systems both on prem and in cloud
  • Build tools and automation that help Five9 achieve higher availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency
  • Work with Engineering teams to deliver high quality software in a fast-paced environment
  • Monitor production and development environments to build preventive measures and provide a seamless customer experience
  • Work with delivery teams on software improvements to achieve higher availability and lower MTTD 

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of Software Development Life Cycle experience preferably Agile Scrum
  • 5+ years of public cloud experience (GCP or AWS)
  • 3+ years of Systems and Networking experience
  • Experience with OpenStack and VMware
  • Experience with Gitlab, ArgoCD, CI/CD methodologies & tools
  • Experience with messaging and indexing applications such as Kafka, Zookeeper, Solr, FLINK and RMQ
  • Experience with Incident Management Process, SRE best practices and continuous improvements
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Orchestration and management of containers using Kubernetes, Helm, GKE and Docker
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Python or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with config management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • Experience in one or more monitoring systems: Prometheus, New Relic, AppDynamics, or LogicMonitor
  • Experience with RDBMS like MySQL/SQL Server is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Additionally, the total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
