Software Engineer 3 – Database Engineer

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with product and business teams to convert requirements to technical specifications for data models and data manipulation rules
  • Troubleshoot triggers, functions, stored procedures, PL/SQL
  • Provide application development support for DDL implementation, code review and schema changes in development, test, and production systems
  • Provide support to product and client teams for reporting and data discrepancies
  • Design fault-tolerant data processing workflows with appropriate tests that can self-heal when something goes wrong, with minimal to no human intervention
  • Take ownership and have pride in what you work while being willing to share your experience and solutions with across teams.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle 11g+ preferred), SQL data manipulation and reporting, is required
  • 3+ years of experience with database reporting and visualization tools with custom functions, design dynamic reports, manipulate data sources, etc. is required
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux or Unix-based systems using PL/SQL and Shell scripting is required
  • 3+ years of experience with troubleshooting, triggers, functions and stored procedures against Oracle databases is required
  • 2+ years of experience in systems configuration (Linux / Unix OS) to adhere to best practices for Oracle RDBMS platforms is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience with designing data models, entity relationship diagrams (ERDs), Data Manipulation Rules (DMR’s) is preferred
  • 1+ years of experience with ETL Pipelines and workflows is nice to have
  • Familiarity with Big Data core concepts and how to process data on cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Spark, EMR) is nice to have
  • Strong understanding of SQL concepts such as stored procedures, query optimization, performance tuning, execution plans, etc. is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to thoroughly test changes subsequently in nonproduction is preferred
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement is preferred
  • Familiarity with cloud-based systems (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is nice to have
  • Experience working in a modern, agile software development lifecycle using tools like Jira or Trello is nice to have
  • Familiarity with source control systems (Git etc.) is nice to have
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proactive communication.
