Alliant Energy has an opening for a Lead IT Analyst to join the team in Madison, WI or Cedar Rapids, IA. This is a Tech lead role for our IT Platforms team. This team manages Oracle Identity Manager, ServiceNow, Jira and 20 other software platforms that support security and facilities. Among these are a few in-houses developed applications too. Knowledge of Java, Oracle, Linux is crucial and broad knowledge of vendor software is required. Prior experience with OIM and identity management space is preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Completes analysis and specifies requirements for moderately complex to sophisticated systems using a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Performs technically sophisticated work that may necessitate the origination and application of new and creative approaches.
  • Leads project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting activities for sophisticated projects. Provides direction and mentorship to critical, multi-functional teams for project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting activities for sophisticated projects. Reviews recommended cost estimates associated with recommended system development solutions.
  • Assists other analysts with design and acts as a resource for particularly difficult design projects.
  • Responsible for translating operational requirements for moderately sophisticated systems to craft software requirements. Plans and implements project systems involving operation, simulation, test, or support requirements with real-time applications. Develops documentation associated with computer software and analyzes software data acquired during systems testing.
  • Performs and may lead the testing of sophisticated systems. Develops and advises on innovative or blended techniques to meet customer needs. Recommends application development team standards for testing. Develops critical measures to evaluate process and system performance improvements. Plans and performs unit and integration testing. Plans and conducts system testing to ensure system reliability prior to implementation. Identifies and assesses probable interactions of inter-related computer systems and anticipates the impact of changes in systems.
  • Plans for the migration of legacy systems to current architecture. Assists with the management of vendor software contracts and license agreements.
  • Works closely with multi-functional teams to resolve and document system development business needs and determine optimum computer automation support to satisfy those needs. Captures and analyzes information required for accurate technical design including the identification and evaluation of purchased package solutions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of information systems and technologies. Recommends changes to design, development, and implementation standards when appropriate. Responsible for technical application development for all stages in the development lifecycle.
  • Provides functional direction and mentoring for various project staff.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 8 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree -Emphasis in information technology or related area.
  • Experience with Oracle Identity Manager (or similar product in identity management space)
  • Advanced experience of scripting languages (e.g. python)
  • Sophisticated hands-on experience of two or more development languages (e.g. Java, .NET, UX)
  • Advanced experience of modern integration technologies and API's
  • Experience with Oracle database and SQL
  • Experience with Linux
  • Proven knowledge of design techniques.
  • Advanced experience of data structures, data model, cloud/on-prem architecture, secure coding practices (as applicable)
  • Experience of modern DevOps, ETL, and Data Analysis methodologies/tools/techniques
  • Experience with vendor products
  • Other required skills: Security Literacy, Infrastructure/Cloud Literacy, Integration Literacy, Data Literacy.
