Technology Specialist I (Senior Engineer) - Digital and Technology Partners – Network Engineering


This position is Hybrid, requires onsite 2 - 3 days a week at MSH Main Campus (102nd & Madison)


Technology Specialist I (AKA Senior Engineer) provides supervision, engineering, operational support and problem resolution for systems or an environment required to support a large, complex institutional IT system, a segment of that system or a process. Assist Managers and Directors in completing projects and maintaining environments. Support enterprise network of 50,000 users, 8 hospitals, 4 data centers, and multi cloud operations.


Responsibilities


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides engineering and administrative support for the assigned areas (LAN network infrastructure including Core, aggregation and access switches. WAN infrastructure including inter hospital connectivity. Cloud infrastructure virtual and physical).
  • May engineer/implement solutions using network automation technologies.
  • Plans and deploys remote sites.
  • Performs daily functions that include user support and upgrade co-ordination, and administrative audits to ensure accuracy of the complex institutional IT system, a segment of that system or a process, including mobile devices if applicable.
  • Maintains software versions management controls.
  • Will document new implementations with diagrams and posted technical documentation.
  • Resolves problems and may implement, configure and fine tune a system/process to monitor system health.
  • Will act as a project lead or a project manager on complex projects.
  • Aids in executing testing with both IT project teams and divisional clients.
  • May provide assistance and training to other engineers
  • Performs related duties as assigned or requested.


Qualifications


Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may substitute.
  • Technical certification(s) in area of expertise or specific to department are desirable.


Experience:


  • Eight years of diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of six years experience in systems analysis and application program development, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with major project in an enterprise LAN/WAN
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and support of an institutional IT system, a segment of that system or a process, as assigned.
  • 10+ years configuring, upgrading, and managing Cisco network equipment.
  • 5+ years supporting and deploying Meraki WAN security appliances.
  • Must have technical experience in networking and relational and demonstrate seasoned IT skills and competency in most aspects of software activities, multimedia and/or data communication. Must have excellent trouble-shooting, documentation and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of VoIP and WiFi infrastructure and controllers
  • Working knowledge of UDP/TCP protocols and able to diagnosis problems via packet analyzer
  • Working knowledge of WAN protocols including MPLS, SIP, BGP etc.
  • A strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, emerging trends and related technology preferred.
  • Very good communication skills, judgment and analytical/problem solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management, staff and vendors.


Compensation Statement


The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $109,000.00 - $163,695.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
