The Role
Develops computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the Company's system architecture standards. Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
Responsibilities
Perform duties to support cloud and container management platforms including the following:
Applying monthly patches
Vulnerability remediation
Software upgrades
License management
Configuration
Troubleshooting
Logging and monitoring
Performance tuning
Backup and recovery
Security and software compliance
Performing health checks and audits
Create and maintain automated workflows for provisioning infrastructure and platforms
Install and configuring new software products in accordance with company policies
Monitors performance metrics and participates in actions to correct deficiencies
Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts
Utilize Azure DevOps for following agile processes and methods
Participate in daily and weekly team meetings as required for following agile framework
Adhere to technical standards, policies, procedures and work instructions
Clearly and effectively document technical standards, policies, procedures and operational instructions
Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree for Information Technology Related Positions Only:
NNS Apprentice School graduate
Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
Nice to Have
Experience with ManageIQ or other cloud management platforms for supporting private clouds.
Familiar with Kubernetes or other container management platforms.
Experience with Azure DevOps
Experience with agile framework.
Familiar with Splunk queries
Familiar with software development practices.
Proficient with scripting and templating languages: Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, YAML, JSON
Experience with VMware or other virtualization technologies.
Experience installing, configuring and supporting applications in Windows and Linux environments.
Experience with system administration of Linux and Windows systems.
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure including: virtualization, networking, Linux and Windows servers, storage, backup and recovery, security, monitoring, etc.
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Proficient with IP network services and protocols
Proficient with Ansible and Ansible Tower
Experience with Podman/Docker
Experience with automation tools for configuration management
Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
