Your team

As a member of the Global Analytics Platforms team, individuals fulfilling this role will be responsible as a primary or secondary system owner for the architecture, deployment, and administration of one or more of the platforms that support all business groups, segments, functions, across all regions, globally. These platforms include, but are not limited to: Collibra, IBM Cognos Analytics, IBM Planning Analytics, Microsoft Power BI, Oracle APEX, Riversand/Syndigo, Starburst, or Tableau.


In this role, team members are encouraged to work both independently and in collaboration with end-users and other technical authorities, abide by defined policies and procedures including but not limited to change control and validation, dynamically adjust to an evolving technical landscape, and work closely with a variety of Baxter team members possessing a broad range of technical expertise and capabilities.

  • What you'll be doingUnderstand the technical architecture of the platforms being led.
  • Define the architecture and deployment of the various infrastructure and software components needed to enable the platform within the Baxter landscape.
  • Define, plan, and implement changes to ensure the platforms being led are optimized and perform to the expected business requirements and service level agreements.
  • Perform all required tasks to administer the platforms being led including but not limited to the installation and configuration of the application software, drivers, and/or utilities required.
  • Perform all tasks required to evaluate, plan, and implement upgrades to the platforms being led.
  • Perform all required tasks to evaluate, plan, and remediate security vulnerabilities identified within the platforms being led.
  • Finish the required qualification and validation testing of the platforms.
  • Ensure that all required application and system documentation is actively maintained and current for the platforms being led.
  • Define and implement processes related to performance tuning, security, problem identification, and resolution for the platforms.
  • Provide technical expertise including but not limited to system and application monitoring, service management, issue identification, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and patching.
  • Understand, implement, and evangelize best demonstrated practices in the deployment, management, and use of the technologies for the platforms being led.
  • Find opportunities to streamline and automate the day-to-day administrative activities for the platforms being led.
  • Ensure that all administrative tasks, procedures, and standard methodologies within the area(s) of functional responsibility are well documented and communicated.
  • Ensure the analytical platforms are sized appropriately to meet business demand while optimizing overall platform cost.
  • Understand and apply knowledge related to the various cloud computing and deployment models, and present options to solve various use-cases.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of various software development life cycles (SDLC) to design, develop, test, and implement supportable and sustainable enterprise solutions.
  • Assist various teams engaged in data warehousing and client/server projects with best proven practices in application design, testing, security models and administration/support.
  • Apply experience as a technical authority and architect to maintain stability across the global analytics platforms.
  • Ensure that adopted change control process is applied for all system changes on validated platforms.
  • Provide level 3 and level 4 support to Baxter business users and level 1 and level 2 support teams.


  • What you'll bring
  • Extensive system administration experience on one or more analytical platforms is required.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services essential to support daily platform operations including but not limited to the applications/services to evaluate, performance tune, troubleshoot, and apply standard processes for cost optimization.
  • Experience with a variety of security tools and technologies including Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP; experience with Okta and SailPoint preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring, upgrading, and patching global analytical platforms, taking proactive action when needed, to ensure stability and avoid outages.
  • Experience with scripting and automation technologies to automate and standardize processes, including but not limited to system upgrades, automated testing, version control and application deployment; PowerShell, Python, and Jenkins preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with any of the following platforms/applications preferred: IBM Cognos Analytics, Oracle APEX, IBM Planning Analytics, or Tableau.
  • Experience using server technologies (i.e.,) to provide standard processes to upgrade and patch platforms, as well as automated testing, version control and deployments.

  • Individuals applying for this role must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of system administration experience on one or more analytical platforms is required.
  • 2+ years of Microsoft Windows Server 2016 (or higher) experience required.
  • 2+ years of Linux (Amazon Linux 2, RedHat, etc.) experience a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in at least one of the following technologies is required: Collibra or similar data cataloging/governance solution (i.e., Atlan, Alation, etc.)
  • Riversand/Syndigo or similar master data management solution (i.e., IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management, Informatica, etc.)
  • Starburst or similar (Dremio, AtScale, etc.)
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Solutions Architect certification required.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $112,000 to $216,000 plus an annual incentive bonus, and equity target .The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
